The Maasai Mara is Kenya’s flagship wildlife reserve, an extension of Tanzania’s Serengeti ecosystem. From July through October, over 1.5 million wildebeest cross the Mara River in one of the planet’s most spectacular natural events.
Year-round, the Mara hosts the densest concentration of big cats in Africa — lions, leopards, and cheetahs — alongside elephants, rhinos, hippos, and crocodiles. The Mara plains are also home to the Maasai people, whose cultural villages welcome visitors.
