Serengeti National Park is a 14,750 km² UNESCO World Heritage Site whose name comes from the Maasai word "siringet" - endless plains. It hosts one of the largest mammal migrations in the world, as 1.5 million wildebeest and 250,000 zebras move in a clockwise circuit through the ecosystem each year.
