Ngorongoro Crater is the largest unbroken volcanic caldera in the world - 19 km wide, 600 metres deep, and roughly 2.5 million years old. Its sheer walls enclose a self-contained ecosystem that supports over 25,000 large animals, including one of the densest populations of black rhino in East Africa.
The crater floor is the only place where you can reliably see the Big Five in a single morning game drive - lions, elephants, rhinos, leopards, and buffalo all roam the 260 km² floor.
